National Diabetes Association Alert Day 2019

According The National Institutes of Health, nearly 1 in 5 African Americans age 20 and older has diabetes. Question: How can we develop culturally appropriate behavior-change strategies to lower the risk? To find out, we fired up the Insight Bus. We spent the day with Lauren, Karen, Kelli and Shawnette, making stops at a supermarket, a restaurant, and a gym. Along the way we talked with a nutritionist, a chef, and a trainer. Led by Bibi, our intrepid nurse educator, we talked attitudes and habits around diet and exercise. And got expert advice on the do’s and don’ts of managing diabetes risk. It was a day full of learning and insight. Check out the trailer below to learn more.
